Just because February wanted to be spring doesn't mean that March feels the same way. We have had more cold and snow in the first half of March than all of February. The people of the farm are enjoying it, the animals and plants maybe not as much. This late winter burst has provided some fun for Farm School as we have taken the time to look at the different snowflake shapes that are falling. This is a great lesson for the kids. Here are some pictures of snowflakes we have seen during Farm School. Just because it feels like winter doesn't mean it's not time to think about Summer Camp. Check out our Summer Camp page for more information on what we have going on this summer.
It's been a while, a long while...
It has been too long since we gave you news on what's going on at the farm. We've been keeping Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter updated, but neglecting the news part of the web site. No more! We are back. It has been a fun Fall, even though it has been another warm one. Seems like winter is getting the big no, no again. Climate change, perhaps, but other than the 3 days of cold with a dash of snow, the temps have been mostly in the 60's and 70's since September and it is now November 1. The warm temps do make outdoor programming easier for sure but the trees seem confused as half are still green while the rest are dropping leaves and thinking about going dormant. We'll see when this pattern breaks. Here are some pics of what we have been doing and we do still have one space available for the rest of 2017, so let your child join us as Farm School. Your child will thank you.
It's been a long time coming.
So between needing to help with family in Florida and starting up the Nature Preschool, we have been busy. But it is now time to post!
The Nature Preschool has started and so far it has been a blast. We have been creating our space to play, learn and share. We spend our mornings with the farm animals, then transition to the forest for the second part of the day. The energy and excitement that comes from the children as they explore and learn is contageous. I am looking forward to watching the children grown and develop.
Here are some pictures to show what is going on.
So if you are interested in having your child join us we still have some spaces in the Monday, Wednesday, Friday session. Feel free to give us a call or email if you have any questions and you can register here on the website.
Summer is ending, but the fun keeps going
So we have been working hard transitioning to fall farm life and getting ready for our Nature Preschool program. Mushrooms are starting to come in, broody chicken is now a happy mama, and our fall plants are coming in. Here are some pictures of what is going on. We still have a couple of spots in our Monday, Wednesday, Friday session of preschool, check out the link under the Programs button.
Fall Nature Preschool Program
Registration is underway for our fall Nature Preschool Program. This will be an all outdoor program for 3-5 year olds based on the Waldkindergarten programs in northern Europe. If you have any questions please contact us at sunnytruthfarm@gmail.com. Below is the flyer and feel free to spread the word.
Nature Preschool, our Waldkindergarten program...
Here is a good article talking about the type of preschool that we will be offering this fall. I've been wanting to run something like this for many years and things are finally coming together to make it reality. Hope you will come and join us. Click on the Nature Preschool link under Programs to read more about what we will be doing.
Sometimes you have to stop and enjoy your surroundings
Sometimes we get so busy we forget to look around and take in all the wonderful things that surround us. Toddlers do help sometimes in seeing the small things that are amazing. Our kids found this newly emerged Pipevine Swallowtail butterfly yesterday, which I would have totally missed as I was thinking about things that needed to get done while we walked back to the house. Also there are some lovely spring wildflowers out right now. So I am going to try to be more in the here and now and take in what is around me, because there is a lot of wonderful things that could be missed otherwise. Don't forget about our Summer Camp and our Nature Preschool programs. Registration is going on right now.
